Galleri Cancer Test

Cancer Screening Test

At Young Naturopathic Center for Wellness, we offer an early detection screening test for cancer for both new and existing patients.

Early cancer detection is vital for increasing a patient’s chances of successful cancer treatment and survival. Unfortunately, many cancers are already in advanced stages when they are detected.

What Is the Galleri Multi-Cancer Early Detection Test?

A cancer test is a blood test used to detect whether you potentially have cancer. We use the Galleri® test by GRAIL, which is a multi-cancer detection test that checks for over 50 types of cancer. It is highly accurate and has a low rate of false positives and false negatives. With this test, your chances of early cancer detection are greatly improved.

The Galleri multi-cancer screening test is only available by prescription through a licensed healthcare provider.

How Does the Cancer Detection Test Process Work?

Consultation and Blood Draw

If you are a new patient, you can schedule a complimentary consultation with us at Young Naturopathic Center for Wellness to discuss this test and your overall health and wellness. Then we will have you go to our specialty laboratory for your blood draw with one of our phlebotomists.

Existing patients who would like this test can give us a call or use our patient portal to schedule their blood draw at our lab for the test.

Processing Your Blood Sample

We will send your blood sample to GRAIL’s Galleri clinical laboratory for processing. Your results will be ready within two weeks.

Reviewing Your Test Results

Once we have your test results, you will be scheduled for a lab review with one of our doctors or our certified health and wellness coach. At this appointment, we will go over the results of your test and what they mean.

If cancer is detected, one of our licensed physicians will review your results and determine the locations in the body that may be affected by cancer. If cancer is not detected, we can check other potential cancer markers and discuss your path to optimal health and wellness.

Why Should I Get a Mult-Cancer Screening Test?

  • Early detection of cancer dramatically increases your chances of surviving (up to 400%).

    • Cancers that aren’t commonly screened for (such as colorectal, pancreatic and prostate cancer) make up 71 percent of the total cancer deaths every year.

Who Should Not Undergo This Cancer Screening Test?

If you are under 21 years of age, pregnant or undergoing active cancer treatment, this test is not recommended for you.

Important Safety Information

This Test Should Not Be Considered a Replacement for Routine Cancer Screenings

This cancer screening test is by prescription only and intended for clinical purposes. It is recommended for adult patients with an increased risk for cancer. Most test patients are over the age of 50 due to elevated cancer risks after this age.

While this multi-cancer detection test can screen for many types of cancer, it cannot detect all cancers. Patients should still undergo routine cancer screenings as recommended by their primary physician.

Screening Results Do Not Rule Out Cancer

Your results will be based on cancer signals detected with the test and where in the body they came from. Our certified providers will interpret your results while taking into account your clinical symptoms and medical history.

If Cancer Signals Are Not Detected

If your results state “Cancer Signal Not Detected,” this does not definitively mean you do not have any of the cancer types tested for. While a false negative is rare, it is possible for cancer to be present but not detected by this test.

If Cancer Signals Are Detected

If your results state “Cancer Signal Detected,” a diagnostic evaluation using established medical procedures such as imaging would be needed to confirm whether you have cancer.

If this further diagnostic testing does not identify cancer, it could mean that the diagnostic testing didn’t sufficiently detect the cancer that is there. This could be due to the cancer being in a different area of the body than where the imaging was done.

If your further diagnostic testing does not identify cancer, it could also mean that cancer is not present, meaning your screening results showed a false positive.

Note: The above statements have not been evaluated by the United States Food and Drug Administration. This screening test is not intended to prevent, diagnose, cure or treat any cancer or disease.

Who Is GRAIL, the Developer of This Test?

The Galleri multi-cancer early detection test was developed and evaluated by GRAIL, an innovative healthcare company in pursuit of solving vital healthcare challenges. They are dedicated to saving lives with new technologies for detecting cancer early on.

GRAIL’s Laboratory Regulations by the CLIA
