Proactive Wellness – Book Your 6-Month Well Check
Once we enter the fourth decade in our lives, we become more prone to certain diseases and physiological conditions that may stay with us for the rest of our lives. These include: heart disease, diabetes, auto-immune disorders, and so on; you are also likely to be more vulnerable to stroke and cancer as the years go by.
An old saying goes – ‘An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’. As a naturopathic doctor, I firmly believe in the adage. Preventing the onset of chronic disease is also easier than treating or curing a disease that has already taken root in your body.
You can prevent chronic diseases by being proactive. Get a comprehensive health assessment every six months to find out the status of your health:
- Are my blood sugar levels ok?
- What is the state of my cardiovascular health?
- Is my cholesterol level healthy?
- Do I have increased inflammatory responses?
- Are any of my hormones going haywire?
If you’re in your 40s or 50s, you may find that one or more of these issues are plaguing your body now; if not, then great! But you have to be sure so that if anything is going off-track, you can take the necessary steps to get it back on track and go back to feeling fabulous.
Everyone knows that to enjoy good health, the minimum you have to do is eat healthy and get enough exercise; what most people don’t know is that the healthy or ‘right’ food may not be the same for everyone. It varies from person to person. Each one of us has our unique health problems or nutritional deficiencies, so what each one of us needs to eat also differs.
So how will you know what your body requires? When you come to our Los Gatos Wellness Center, we will run a whole range of lab tests to check your hormone levels, and to check the status of your cardiovascular health, and if you are at high risk for diabetes, cancer, stroke and so on. Based on your lab results, we will then recommend a customized wellness plan for you, which can help you achieve optimal wellness.
Do remember, that you need to do a well check once every 6 months, especially so if you’re in your 40s or 50s. This way you will know if there is any change in your health; at this age, it is essential to check your markers every 6 months to determine your health status, and proactively maintain good health.
