Easy Coconut Milk Recipe

Almost the whole world is nuts over coconuts today – whether it’s the oil, milk or its flesh. People just can’t seem to have enough of them. The reason? Coconut contains a whole lot of nutrition – proteins, healthy fats and minerals – that has multiple health benefits: it helps boost immunity, lower cholesterol, stabilize your blood pressure, and is great for your skin and hair. Coconut milk can also be a yummy, healthy alternative for people who are sensitive or allergic to dairy – one of the most common food intolerances prevalent in our country.

At the Young Naturopathic Center for Wellness, we often see a lot of patients who complain about anxiety and depression, fatigue, and excessive acne, among other things. Sadly, many problems remain undiagnosed because the minor telltale signs are ignored. You may receive treatment for your outward symptoms without the root cause of your health problems being established.

As a Naturopathic Clinic, we are concerned most about finding out the actual reason for your illness: Is it hormonal imbalance? Do you have food intolerance? Allergies?

We perform a number of tests to determine the exact nature and cause of your problem, and then we prescribe a personalized wellness plan, based on your unique issues and requirements.

If we determine that you have intolerance for dairy (the most common food intolerance we see), we will of course recommend you eliminate it from your diet. You can use coconut milk instead. Store bought is ok, but it could contain additives that may not be so good for you. So here is an easy, fresh and quick way to make your own coconut milk.

Easy Coconut Milk Recipe

You need:

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups grated/shredded coconut

Method:

Warm the water, and pour it into the vitamix or blender. Add the coconut and blend. After blending, it may be a little lumpy, so have a fine sieve handy. Pour through the sieve into a pitcher, and stir with a spoon to get all the milk out. Voila! – You have yummy, healthy coconut milk ready!
