Shiftwave
Stress complicates our health and sense of well-being. We have brought the world’s most advanced relaxation device: Shiftwave. Using micro-pressure and tapping along with biofeedback, we are able to train your body to relax even during times of stress.
Let’s be real, stress is everywhere! Chemical stressors in the environment, physical stressors and emotional stress can contribute to a declining sense of well-being. Juggling work, family life, fitness and everything in between can make us feel like we’re constantly running on empty. Our body has a built-in superpower to help us not just survive, but thrive! It is called the autonomic nervous system. Autonomic = automatically tells us to rest and digest or run from a lion.
Our nervous system is the ultimate control center for health and well-being. When it’s in balance, you feel like you can take on the world. When it’s out of whack, everything from your sleep to your mood can suffer.
Shiftwave is a cutting-edge technology that uses gentle pulsed pressure waves to help your body find its natural rhythm again. This type of therapy feels like a massage for your nerves, but instead of just relaxing your muscles, it’s helping to reset your entire system from the inside out. Once you engage in balancing your nervous system, health can be easier to achieve.
Whether you’re dealing with chronic stress, struggling to focus or just feeling a bit “off”, Shiftwave taps into the mind-body connection to help you feel more energized and resilient.
What Is Shiftwave?
Shiftwave is a Nervous System Training Technology that enhances mental and physical restoration. While you relax in a zero-gravity recliner, the system sends intelligent patterns of waves through your body to recondition your stress response and promote a sense of calm and mental clarity. In a nutshell, it’s like a high-tech tune-up for your nervous system.
Key features of the Shiftwave technology include:
- Pulsed pressure waves: Shiftwave delivers tiny pulses of pressure along your spine to rapidly shift your state of body and mind
- BioDrive®: a patent-pending technology monitors your physiology and algorithmically generates unique patterns of pressure waves to bring you into a flow state
- Synthetic Sleep™: proprietary Synthetic Sleep protocols are designed to guide you into a profound state of rest and restoration, similar to deep sleep
- Personalized Journeys: Shiftwave “journeys” use precise patterns and frequencies of pressure waves to help you attain specific goals, such as deep relaxation, mental clarity or pain relief
Shiftwave offers an immersive and full-body experience, like an effortless form of meditation. It can enhance an existing meditation practice or nervous system regulation methods, or be an accessible entry point for those who are new to these kinds of techniques.
How Does Shiftwave Work to Regulate the Nervous System?
Your autonomic nervous system (ANS) has two main branches – the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), which is responsible for your “fight or flight” response, and the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), which handles your “rest and digest” functions.
When you’re stressed, your SNS goes into overdrive, leaving you feeling wired and on edge. Over time, this constant state of high alert can take a toll on your physical and mental health. You may notice wide-ranging effects on everything from your sleep to your digestion to your mood. Shiftwave helps to activate the PNS and bring your body back into equilibrium.
The benefits of being in a more balanced state may include:
- Reduced stress and anxiety
- Improved stress resilience
- Improved sleep quality
- Enhanced mental clarity, attention, focus and mindfulness
- Decreased pain and inflammation
- Performance and recovery optimization
- Elevated energy levels
- A general sense of enhanced well-being
Shiftwave may also have applications for specific mental and physical health conditions, such as:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Chronic pain syndromes
- Autoimmune disorders
The full range of Shiftwave’s benefits are still being explored. We may discover even more ways that Shiftwave can support your health and well-being as more research emerges.
How Is the Nervous System Structured?
Your nervous system is a network of nerves and cells that functions as the communication superhighway in your body. It’s responsible for sending messages between your brain and the rest of your body, controlling everything from your movements to your thoughts and emotions.
Your nervous system is divided into two main parts: the central nervous system, which includes your brain, eyes and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system, which branches out to bring the signal from the CNS to the rest of the body.
Your peripheral nervous system breaks down into two more parts: the somatic nervous system, which controls voluntary actions like walking and eating, and the autonomic nervous system, which controls processes that happen involuntarily, like breathing, sweating and digestion.
Go down one more layer and your autonomic nervous system divides into the sympathetic nervous system that controls your fight or flight responses in stressful situations and the parasympathetic nervous system that controls your rest and digest functions when you’re calm and relaxed. It is this part of the nervous system that aids in our ability to adapt and adjust during times of stress.
What Should I Know About Stress and My Nervous System?
We all know what it feels like to be stressed out – your heart races, your palms get sweaty and you feel like you’re on edge. That’s your sympathetic nervous system kicking into high gear, getting you ready to face a perceived threat (even if that “threat” is just a looming deadline at work).
In small doses, stress can actually be a good thing. It can help you stay focused, motivated and alert. But when stress becomes chronic – meaning it’s constant and long-lasting – your health begins to suffer. .
Chronic stress will wreak havoc on your nervous system, keeping your body in a perpetual state of fight or flight. Over time, this can lead to a whole host of issues, both physical and mental:
- Impaired immune function, making you more susceptible to illness and disease
- Digestive problems, like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), stomach ulcers and acid reflux
- Sleep disturbances that leave you feeling groggy and unrested in the morning
- Mood and mental health disorders of various kinds, including anxiety, depression and PTSD
- Cognitive impairment that makes it difficult to focus, concentrate and make decisions
The good news is that there are things you can do to manage stress and support your nervous system. From lifestyle changes like regular exercise and mindfulness practices, to revolutionary technologies like Shiftwave, there are plenty of tools available to help you find balance and build resilience.

Before Your Shiftwave Session
Your Shiftwave experience at Young Naturopathic Center for Wellness starts with a consultation. During this chat, we’ll talk about your health history, current lifestyle and any specific concerns you’d like to focus on. We might ask about your stress levels, sleep patterns, physical activity, mood and any past experience with nervous system regulation techniques. The more you share, the better we understand where you’re at and how we can best support you.
There’s no special preparation required before your Shiftwave session; however, there are a few simple things you can do to help you get the most out of your experience. You’ll be sitting in a reclined position for the duration of your session, so make sure to wear something that allows you to relax. Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal.
It’s best to avoid heavy exercise, caffeine and other stimulants for at least a few hours before your session. These substances can interfere with your body’s ability to relax and may make it harder to fully immerse yourself in the experience.
During Your Shiftwave Session
The Shiftwave chair isn’t your average La-Z-Boy. The recliner is designed to cradle your body in a zero-gravity position, promoting optimal circulation and spinal alignment. As you settle in, you’ll notice the specialized vibrational plates lining the length of the chair. These plates produce the pulsed pressure waves that will guide you into relaxation and flow.
During your session, you will wear eye coverings and headphones that ensure you are entirely immersed in the experience. Shiftwave sessions range from 10 minutes to about an hour, depending on the journey you choose.
Looking to melt away the stress of a hectic work week? There’s a journey for that. Hoping to sharpen your focus and mental clarity? We’ve got you covered. No matter what your needs may be, there’s a Shiftwave journey to support you.
As the waves flow through your body, you may notice a variety of sensations. Some people describe feeling a gentle tingling or vibration, while others report a sense of deep relaxation washing over them. You might even find yourself drifting off into a state of near-sleep, as the soothing rhythms of the waves help to quiet your mind and release tension from your body.
After Your Shiftwave Session
Immediately after a session, it’s common to have profound feelings of relaxation and ease. You may notice that your mind feels clearer, your body feels lighter and you have a renewed sense of energy. Many people report feeling more centered, focused and resilient after their session – like they’ve hit the reset button on their nervous system.
The benefits of Shiftwave don’t end when you step out of the chair. You may continue to notice subtle shifts in your mood, energy levels and overall sense of well-being as you go about your day. With regular Shiftwave sessions, these positive effects can compound over time, helping you build a foundation of resilience and vitality that can support you through life’s ups and downs.
