Menopause and Andropause Treatment in Los Gatos

YNC HRT & Supplements 2025 ©Annarose Monroe Photography, LLC (40 of 90)

Advanced hormone testing and personalized, doctor-led care designed to support energy, clarity, and overall well-being during midlife.

The symptoms that get dismissed the fastest are often the ones telling you the most.

A little more tired than usual. Sleep not hitting the same. Forgetting where you put your keys. A body that feels different, but you cannot quite explain how.

It gets brushed off. Stress. Aging. Life.

In the clinic, we call these the “whispers” of hormonal decline. They are easy to miss, easy to dismiss, and they often show up years before the louder symptoms most people associate with menopause.

For women, they are often the first signs of perimenopause.

For men, they signal andropause, the gradual testosterone decline that rarely gets called out for what it is.

The earlier you recognize them, the more you can do about them.

At Young Naturopathic Center for Wellness (YNC), we evaluate hormones, metabolism, cardiovascular markers, and bone density together, because they are all connected, whether your last doctor treated them that way or not.

How Menopause & Andropause Treatment Works

At our Los Gatos clinic, perimenopause and menopause are viewed as a gradual, multi-system transition influenced by hormonal changes. Estrogen and progesterone changes may impact multiple body systems, including metabolism, brain function, cardiovascular health, bone density, and endocrine regulation.

We use advanced diagnostic testing to evaluate your unique hormonal and metabolic profile. This may help identify patterns that are not always visible through standard testing alone.

Based on your results and health history, our doctors develop a personalized care plan. This may include bioidentical hormone therapy (BHRT) and other supportive approaches intended to support hormonal balance, metabolic function, and overall well-being.

Take the First Step Toward Understanding Your Hormonal Health

What You Should Not Have to Settle For

You have probably experienced some of this already:

  • A 10-minute appointment where you are told your labs are “normal” with no further discussion
  • Being told it is “just aging” or “just stress”
  • An antidepressant offered as a first response to symptoms that are clearly hormonal
  • A provider who has not run a comprehensive hormone panel in years, if ever
  • Hormone therapy dismissed entirely because of decades-old data from the WHI study (which used synthetic hormones, oral delivery, and older patients well past the optimal window).

Science has moved forward. Care should too.

At YNC, every plan is reviewed and signed off by a licensed doctor based on a full evaluation. We do not dismiss symptoms because they are inconvenient, and we do not call labs “normal” without showing you the actual numbers and what they mean.

Why a Whole-Body Approach Matters

Menopause and andropause affect more than hot flashes or libido. Hormonal shifts may be associated with changes across multiple systems:

Heart

Hormones and cardiovascular health are connected. Most patients have one doctor watching the heart and another watching the hormones, and rarely do they talk to each other. We monitor them together.

Joints and Muscles

“It’s just aging” is something patients hear constantly. Joint pain, muscle aches, and reduced strength during perimenopause and menopause are often connected to declining estrogen and testosterone, not just calendars.

Bone density

Bone changes are gradual and often invisible until they are not. We use DEXA scans to establish a baseline and monitor changes, rather than waiting for a fracture to find out where things stand.

Brain and memory

Walking into a room and forgetting why? Often called “menopause brain.” It is more than a phase, and there are ways to evaluate what might be contributing.

Metabolism

Insulin sensitivity often shifts during the menopausal transition, which can affect weight and energy even when nothing about your diet or routine has changed.

Gut

Hormonal shifts can affect intestinal tone and the gut-brain axis. Bloating, constipation, and IBS-type symptoms in midlife are not always a coincidence.

Hormone Optimization and Personalized Therapies at YNC

At YNC, each plan is developed by a licensed doctor based on your evaluation, lab findings, and health history.

When appropriate, your treatment may include one or more of the following:

Bioidentical Hormone Therapy (BHRT)

Bioidentical hormones are designed to be structurally similar to those naturally produced in the body. When clinically appropriate, BHRT may be used to support hormonal balance during perimenopause, menopause, and andropause.

Depending on your evaluation, your plan may include:

  • Estrogen and progesterone (for women)
  • Testosterone (for women and men)
  • DHEA
  • Thyroid hormones (T3, T4) when indicated
  • Oxytocin in select cases
  • Blood sugar regulating medications (Metformin and GLPs).

All BHRT is prescribed and monitored by a licensed doctor, with adjustments based on follow-up labs and clinical response.

BHRT Delivery Options

How you take your hormones matters as much as what you take. We offer multiple delivery methods so your plan fits your life, not the other way around:

  • Pellets: Tiny, custom-compounded implants placed just under the skin during a brief office visit. They release hormones steadily for 3 to 6 months. Popular with patients who want a low-maintenance option.
  • Creams and gels: Applied daily to the skin. Flexible dosing, easy to adjust, no needles.
  • Injections: Typically weekly or biweekly. Allow precise dose control, often used with testosterone therapy and GLP medications.
  • Patches: Worn on the skin and changed once or twice a week. Provide steady release.
  • Oral capsules: Taken daily. Convenient but not always the right fit depending on your health profile.
  • Vaginal creams or rings: Used locally for vaginal health concerns.

Your provider will discuss which option fits your labs, your symptoms, and your preferences.

Testosterone Therapy for Men

Testosterone naturally declines starting in the mid-30s. When labs confirm low testosterone and clinical evaluation supports treatment, TRT may be discussed as part of your care plan.

At YNC, TRT is not a one-medication, one-dose approach. We monitor estradiol, PSA, DHT, and related markers from the start, because testosterone therapy affects more than just testosterone levels. When estrogen needs to be managed, we may use enclomiphene, a selective estrogen receptor modulator, alongside TRT.

ED is also commonly part of the conversation. Testosterone alone does not always address it, so additional options like tadalafil, sildenafil, or TriMix may be discussed based on your evaluation.

Supportive Therapies

IV Nutrient Therapy

IV therapy delivers vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants directly into the bloodstream. It may be considered to help support energy levels and recovery during perimenopause and menopause.

Formulations are selected based on your needs and lab findings.

Peptide Therapy

Peptide therapy may be discussed as a part of a broader care plan, when clinically appropriate. Your doctor will evaluate whether this option may be suitable based on your symptoms, medical history, and clinical findings.

Lifestyle, Nutrition, and Movement

Hormones work best when the rest of the picture is supported. Your plan may include guidance on nutrition, strength training, sleep, and stress, because no medication does its job well in a vacuum.

Recommendations are guided by lab results and overseen by a licensed doctor.

Advanced Testing at YNC

Most people spend years managing symptoms while their hormones quietly shift. Comprehensive testing gives a clearer picture of what is actually happening.

We recommend a baseline hormone panel starting around age 35. Earlier if symptoms are already showing up.

For women: cortisol, DHEA-S, estradiol, progesterone, SHBG, FSH, testosterone, prolactin. For men: all of the above, plus PSA (free and total) and DHT.

We also evaluate underlying factors based on your symptoms and history, which may include:

  • DEXA scan to assess bone density before changes become a concern
  • Calcium score to evaluate cardiovascular factors that connect to hormonal health
  • ApoE4 and polygenetic risk testing to understand long-term cognitive risk factors
  • Cardiometabolic testing for insulin sensitivity, lipids, and inflammation
  • VO2Max testing to assess fitness, longevity, and provide accurate guidance on the best macros for your current health.
  • Nutrient and gut health analysis

We have been testing for ApoE4 at YNC since 2004. Proactive evaluation has been part of our approach from the beginning.

What to Expect Over Time

Every woman’s experience is different. Some notice early changes in sleep, energy, or temperature regulation. For others, changes develop more gradually. What stays consistent is the structure of care: ongoing evaluation, regular follow-up, and a plan that adjusts as your body responds.

This is not a one-and-done prescription. It is a relationship with a clinical team that knows your history and watches your trajectory.

As care continues, some people report changes in cognitive clarity, energy balance, and overall day-to-day well-being.

What Can You Expect During Your Treatment at YNC

Menopause is not a single event. It is a transition that can span a decade or more, touch nearly every system in your body, and present differently for every woman. Treating it like a one-symptom problem misses the point.

Here is exactly what happens when you visit our clinic:

1. Initial Consultation

Your first appointment is a detailed discussion about your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and long-term health goals. Visits are available in person at our Los Gatos clinic or virtually.

2. Advanced Testing

Based on your consultation, we may recommend comprehensive lab work and imaging. This may include hormone panels, metabolic markers, cardiovascular risk indicators, and a DEXA scan to help establish a clear baseline view of your health.

3. Personalized Plan

Your doctor creates a personalized care plan based on your test results. This may include BHRT, peptide therapy, IV infusions, metabolic support, or a combination of approaches.

Your plan includes scheduled follow-ups and ongoing lab monitoring so we can adjust your plan as your body responds.
