Heart Health Treatment in Los Gatos

Heart shoot YNC

Heart risk rarely announces itself. Blood pressure creeps, blood sugar drifts, hormones decline, and none of it hurts. That’s how 1 in 5 heart attacks arrives with little or no warning.

An appropriate medical evaluation can identify many cardiovascular risk factors before symptoms develop.

At YNC in Los Gatos, we look for risk where it starts: plaque forming in your arteries, cholesterol particles and inflammation a standard panel skips, blood sugar drifting, inherited risk nobody has ever checked. Then we treat what we find, and retest to prove it moved.

And if your heart is holding up well? We’ll tell you, and you’ll have the numbers to prove it.

Who This Is For

This is probably for you if:

  • Heart disease runs in your family
  • Your genetics suggest that heart health should be a priority
  • You’re already managing blood pressure, cholesterol, or blood sugar
  • Playing the long game matters more than waiting for a diagnosis.

Heart Health Testing at YNC

Blood pressure checks and lipid panels are built to flag disease, not to treat the slow slide that leads to it. Over a third of heart attacks happen in people with “normal” cholesterol, which is why a normal panel doesn’t close the question.

Treating a heart without data is guessing, so every plan starts with numbers. Testing at YNC runs deeper than a checkup panel:

  • Imaging: When clinically appropriate, a provider may recommend coronary artery calcium scoring or other cardiovascular imaging to obtain additional information about coronary plaque and cardiovascular risk.
  • Advanced blood work: ApoB, Lp(a), hs-CRP, homocysteine, and insulin markers a basic lipid panel doesn’t include.
  • Inherited risk: Boston Heart Diagnostics genetics with Allelica polygenic risk scores. You can’t change your genes, but knowing them changes how hard we work on everything else.
  • Effort and recovery: VO2 max testing on the PNOE system, the fitness side of heart health.

Which of these you need depends on your history and risk. The full breakdown lives on our cardiac testing page.

Hormone & Metabolic Treatment

Hormonal decline and insulin resistance sit underneath many “unexplained” symptoms, and both are treatable. Dr. Young has treated hormones in men and women for 25 years.

On the metabolic side, treatment goes at insulin resistance and blood sugar control directly, with nutrition and training built from your results rather than a generic plan.

Working Alongside Your Cardiologist

Not everyone arrives here before there’s a problem. Plenty of our patients come in with a diagnosis, a stent, or a medication list already in place.

We don’t ask you to choose between us and your cardiologist. While they treat disease once identified, we work alongside them to prevent further damage. Our focus is on addressing the underlying drivers of heart disease: hormonal balance, blood sugar control, and fitness capacity. We use data from advanced labs and VO2 max testing to understand how your entire system is functioning—the ‘why’ behind the numbers that rarely fits into a standard cardiology appointment.

Supportive Therapies

When sleep, nutrition, and training changes aren’t getting you there on their own, your provider may bring in IV nutrients, NAD+, or FDA-approved hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Our team delivers all of these on-site rather than referring you out.

What Improvement Looks Like

Progress shows up in two places. In your numbers: expect reduced inflammation, better VO2 Max scores, a more favorable lipid panel, improved blood sugar, and lower blood pressure. In your daily life: notice endurance that holds through a longer session, energy that doesn’t collapse mid-afternoon, and recovery that feels faster.

The goal is to help patients understand and appropriately manage identified cardiovascular risk factors.

“After 3 months… better body composition, a calmer mood, and sleep that doesn’t feel like I’m wrestling a bear all night.”

What to Expect at YNC

Most appointments start with a checklist. Ours starts with a conversation.

Consultation: We start with your symptoms, history, and goals, and what earlier visits didn’t cover.

Testing: We run the tests your consultation points to.

Treatment Plan:  Your plan comes from your data, not a hunch: treatment, guidance, and scheduled retesting.

Why YNC

Young Naturopathic Center for Wellness has been doctor-owned and operated in Los Gatos since 2004, and Dr. Young is the primary care doctor for a majority of the practice’s patients.

Testing, IVs, and hyperbaric oxygen all happen on-site, and the same provider builds and adjusts your plan. If you have a cardiologist or a primary care doctor you like, we work alongside them, not around them. And our doctors do the things they recommend.

Patients come to us from San Jose, Campbell, and across the South Bay.

FAQs

Is This Only for People with Heart Disease?
No. Many people come before anything is wrong, to set a baseline and correct small drifts before they become diagnosed. Most people should start by 45, and family history or existing risk factors argue for sooner.
How is This Different from Standard Cardiology?
Cardiology is excellent at finding and treating heart disease once it appears. We treat the years before that: the hormonal, metabolic, and fitness factors that decide how your heart performs. If what we find needs a cardiologist, we say so.
Do I Have to Leave My Current Doctor?
No. Many patients use Dr. Young as their primary care doctor; others keep their existing team. Both are normal here.
Do I Need Testing Before Treatment Starts?
Usually, yes; treatment is built from your results, not a default protocol. VO2 max testing can also be booked on its own.
