Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Evaluation & Treatment in Los Gatos

If you have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, you’ve likely become your own case manager. You track which joint might slip, which foods will ruin your day, which activities look fine in theory.
Then every symptom gets its own appointment: one for the joints, another for the gut, a third for the fatigue and dizziness nobody has a folder for. Separated, the pattern of your health gets lost.
EDS can affect multiple body systems. At Young Naturopathic Center for Wellness, a provider reviews the patient’s symptoms, history, existing diagnoses, and current care as part of an individualized evaluation.
Who This Is For
Keeping an EDS body working is a second job nobody pays you for. Some patients arrive with a diagnosis; others have spent years being told each symptom is unrelated. This is for you if:
- Joints slip, click, or give out mid-task.
- Chronic pain or muscle tension never fully settles.
- Fatigue does not improve with rest.
- Dizziness, a racing heart, or gut symptoms have never been explained.
One or two of these is reason enough to look properly.

Functional Medicine Testing
Routine labs are built to catch common problems, which is why they come back clean while you are still flattened by mid-afternoon.
EDS evaluation generally relies on medical history and physical examination, with genetic evaluation appropriate for certain subtypes. Additional testing may help evaluate other possible contributors to symptoms but does not diagnose or identify the cause of every EDS-related complaint.
Depending on what you’re dealing with, we may look at:
- hs-CRP and other inflammation markers, when pain and flare-ups lead.
- Blood sugar, fasting insulin, and HbA1c, when energy crashes are the story.
- Thyroid, cortisol, and sex hormones, which shape recovery and day-to-day function.
- GI-MAP stool testing, when the gut is the loudest symptom.
Plus a whole range of targeted testing across genetics, longevity, cardiometabolic, and advanced lab panels.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
Estrogen shapes collagen itself, which is why many people with EDS notice joints loosen and flares worsen when hormone levels swing.
Where testing shows an imbalance, HRT steadies those levels, which can mean fewer flares, more resilient tissue, and steadier recovery. We have treated hormones in men and women for nearly 25 years.
Injection Therapies for Joint Stability
In EDS, connective tissue does not hold joints firmly, so strain builds faster, and recovery lags behind. For patients with an established diagnosis, YNC can treat specific pain or joint complaints and use our in-house therapies if appropriate. Any injection therapy requires an individualized assessment, and outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Therapies We Draw On
| Therapy | Used for | What it looks like |
| IV Therapy | Nutrient delivery when absorption is part of the problem | 30 to 90 minutes in our nine-chair, doctor-supervised IV suite |
| NAD Therapy | Cellular energy when fatigue or brain fog dominates the day | As an IV or an injection |
| Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy | Tissue recovery under sustained strain | 60 to 90 minutes per session across two chambers |
| Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) | Steadying the estrogen swings that loosen joints and worsen flares | Pellets lasting 3 to 6 months, or gels, patches, creams, or injections; levels rechecked every 3 to 6 months |

Why Patients With EDS Choose YNC
A condition that lives in every system needs one doctor holding the whole file. At YNC, labs are drawn on site; injections, IVs, and two hyperbaric chambers sit under one roof; the same doctor reads all of it. Doctor-owned since 2004, over 18,000 patients treated.
“In a mere two visits, Dr. Young figured out what three medical specialists and a GP couldn’t figure out after a dozen visits.”
