Prolozone Therapy® for Pain in Los Gatos

Prolozone Therapy - female patient receiving injection from female healthcare assistant

Persistent joint pain can be frustrating, often returning despite various treatments. This recurrence is primarily due to the limited blood flow to joints, ligaments, and tendons. Adequate blood supply is crucial for delivering essential anti-inflammatory factors needed for effective healing. In contrast, muscles heal more readily because they have a richer blood supply. Therefore, chronic or recurring pain is frequently associated with issues in these areas of low circulation.

At YNC we offer several regenerative therapies. One of our most effective treatments is Prolozone therapy, combining prolo therapy and ozone for a powerful and impactful treatment that helps to reduce inflammation and stimulate tissue repair, helping joints and muscles recover at their source.

Our doctor-led team identifies the cause of your pain through physical examination and advanced diagnostics.

Once we have concluded your diagnosis, we create a personalized plan that may include Prolozone Therapy and or other regenerative treatments that support your body’s healing and long-term performance.

Target the root cause of your pain! Start moving, feeling, and performing at your best with Prolozone today.

What is Prolozone Therapy?

Prolozone Therapy is an injection-based regenerative treatment that targets stubborn joint and soft-tissue pain.

It combines medical-grade ozone with targeted regenerative solutions directly to the injured tissue to:

  • Target inflammation to improve movement and relieve pain
  • Restore circulation and oxygen delivery to injured tissues
  • Accelerate tissue repair and collagen production to strengthen joints, tendons, and ligaments

At our Los Gatos clinic, we blend several proven approaches in one targeted treatment:

  • Neural therapy targets irritated nerves to dial down overactive pain signals
  • Prolotherapy uses regenerative solutions such as dextrose to stimulate new collagen growth
  • Regenerative solutions combining things like hyaluronic acid, Wharton’s jelly, and exosomes.

Together, these treatments restore movement, improve strength, and optimize your joint performance for lasting mobility.

Here’s what one of our patients experienced with Prolozone Therapy:

“The Prolozone injections have been amazing! They have helped relieve my pain in several parts of my body. Dr. Young makes it easy and painless. You may have to do a few treatments to reach your desired goal. Dr. Young will evaluate and treat your needs. She is an expert in what she does, and I highly recommend Prolozone treatment with her!”

Adrienne O, 60-year-old female patient

Is it Different from Prolotherapy?

Yes – Prolozone Therapy builds upon the foundation of traditional prolotherapy. Both treatments aim to stimulate your body’s natural healing response, but they differ in how they do it.

Prolotherapy uses regenerative solutions such as dextrose to irritate the targeted tissue slightly, prompting new collagen production and strengthening ligaments and joints over time.

Prolozone Therapy takes this a step further by adding medical-grade ozone to the injection. Ozone increases oxygen delivery, boosts circulation, and enhances tissue repair – accelerating recovery and improving outcomes for pain relief and joint performance.

In short, prolotherapy focuses on collagen stimulation, while Prolozone Therapy amplifies the regenerative process through improved oxygenation and cellular repair.

Using Ultrasound Guidance for Precision

At YNC, Prolozone treatment can be performed using ultrasound-guided imaging when maximum accuracy is required. This technology allows our doctors to visualize the exact structures being treated – muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints – and guide the needle precisely to the target area.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

Step 1: Initial Consultation

You’ll meet with one of our doctors to discuss your symptoms, history, and goals.

If needed, we may recommend tests or imaging to help pinpoint the cause of your pain.

We think long term – we’re not just trying to stick a plaster over the problem, we want to fix the root cause, then provide the best possible treatment.

We can start providing pain relief during this consultation, then look at your results later to personalize your treatment plan based on the underlying cause.

Step 2: Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on your diagnostic results, we’ll design a customized plan that can include the ideal number of Prolozone sessions.

We may also recommend complementary therapies such as ozone, peptide therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, or IV therapy to improve cellular repair and recovery.

Step 3: Treatment

Before your appointment, avoid anti-inflammatories for 24 hours and wear comfortable clothing.

During treatment, you’ll receive two injections, a regenerative solution, followed by medical-grade ozone, to activate repair and improve oxygen utilization. The process is completed in just a few minutes.

Step 4: Post-Treatment

You can return to your usual activities right away. It’s normal to feel mild soreness around the injection site for a short time.

We schedule follow-up sessions based on your body’s response and recovery goals.

“I’ve been dealing with knee pain, emanating from my hip since April. I have seen my orthopedist, physical therapist, masseuse and chiropractor. I started the injections with Dr Young about 3 weeks ago, and have seen tremendous improvement in my muscle and joint pain. My sports masseuse was able to give Dr Young some specific feedback on affected muscles; Dr Young gave me the Prolozone injections and now my knee pain is just about gone. They have significantly improved the overall arthritic aches in my knee and my hip muscles have significantly calmed. I highly recommend this impressive therapy as a game changer for people suffering from chronic joint or muscle pain.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How Quickly Will I See Results?
Many people feel immediate relief. And almost everyone has a noticeable reduction in pain within 3 to 7 days.
Can this Actually Regenerate Damaged Cartilage?
When combined with nutrition and targeted movement, Prolozone Therapy supports the regeneration of damaged cartilage and helps restore healthy joint function.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Everyone responds differently, but in our experience, most people have got great results with 3 to 6 treatments per area.

Not typically. Some people describe a sensation of fullness in the injected area that feels a bit strange. A few have also noticed a dull ache that lasts one or two days with no impact on their daily routine.
What Makes this Different from Cortisone Shots?
Cortisone can ease pain, but it doesn’t treat what’s causing it. Prolozone Therapy uses medical ozone and regenerative compounds to reduce inflammation and support actual tissue repair. It’s designed to help your body heal, not just mask symptoms.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Side effects are rare and mild, resolving within a few days. These may include:

  • Local soreness or aching

We also take extra care and consider other options if you’re pregnant, immunocompromised, or managing a serious illness. We’ll go over all of this during your consultation.

Is it Covered by Insurance?
Prolozone Therapy is currently not covered by insurance providers. We’ll be upfront about costs during your consultation and help you find the best way to move forward with care.
